Alex Salmond in charitable mood

The First Minister is talking to Glasgow South Business Club this evening so I thought I'd post about my experience of his manner.

I took this shot a few months ago in the parliament in Edinburgh. I was helping the team from the Sense Scotland charity to publicise their bid for Lottery funding.  The charity got its funding.

He was very approachable and understood the importance of being seen on the net and in print (subtle hint to all website owners). Once visitors have been filtered through the security system in Holyrood there is easy access to the great and good. Mr Salmond was mild-mannered and empathic even with the endless press of bodies around him looking for his attention.

Technical note for photo buffs: I had three flashes linked to a radio receiver. They were pointed at the hall ceiling to add to the available light in the room. Everyone, including those in the background was evenly lit and the flash ensured sharpness.

Spring at last?

The weather was so sunny yesterday that I risked family wrath by nipping into Glasgow to photograph signs of Spring. Hope they cheer up your Monday.

The squiggly bridge and financial quarter.

Some kind of fishing bird (Heron?) on the Clyde near the squinty bridge.

One of many frogs in Kelvingrove Park pond.

First PR stunt of the year celebrating Edwardian pastimes.

The astonishing sight of a sundial actually working.
